BREAKING: Newport Snags Two Spots in Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best 2025 – Can You Guess the Elite Inns That Cracked the Top 5?

by Ryan John

Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards 2025 just dropped and Newport put 2 properties in the national top tier of Favorite Inns in the continental United States. The Chanler at Cliff Walk landed at no. 4 with a reader score of 94.55. Castle Hill Inn followed at no. 5 with a reader score of 92.83. The list is built from a large annual reader survey that rates inns on rooms and facilities, location, service, food, and value.

Why this matters for travelers is simple. These are not generic big box hotels. Both properties are set in places that bake the coast into your day. The Chanler sits on a bluff at 117 Memorial Boulevard at the northern gateway to the Cliff Walk. Easton’s Beach is just below and the paved section of the path begins outside the front lawn. Guests can walk to sunrise light, return for breakfast, and plan the rest of the day without a car. The mansion holds 20 rooms. Many include fireplaces and deep soaking baths that make cooler months feel like an advantage. On site dining spans the tasting room at Cara and relaxed drinks on the terrace, so you can keep a full evening on property when the sea breeze picks up.

Across town, Castle Hill Inn rests at 590 Ocean Drive on a headland with lawns that slope to Narragansett Bay and a short footpath to the lighthouse. The estate covers about 40 acres, which keeps the place calm even on busy weekends. Rooms split between the 19th century Agassiz Mansion and freestanding Beach Cottages and Beach Houses near the shore. Evenings can be entirely on site. Aurelia handles refined dinner service in the mansion, while The Lawn Terrace is the move for daylight plates and late afternoon drinks with sails in view. Step outside the gate and the Ocean Drive loop begins, with Brenton Point and Fort Adams minutes away.

World’s Best is a reader vote. That is the point. These results show how paying guests weigh service, setting, and value after real stays. A top 5 for both The Chanler and Castle Hill gives Newport a clean headline for trip planning in any season.
