Bowen’s Wharf ushers in the holiday season with its beloved Christmas Tree Lighting, now in its fifty fifth year. The celebration begins early in the afternoon with performances by local musicians and choruses, filling the waterfront with festive music. The highlight of the day comes at 6:00 PM, when the towering Christmas tree is illuminated, marking the official start of the holidays at the wharf.
Santa is expected to arrive by boat in Bowen’s Basin, weather permitting, ready to hear wish lists from visiting children. Guests are encouraged to arrive ahead of the lighting to enjoy relaxed holiday shopping, seasonal treats from participating shops, and dining at Bowen’s Wharf restaurants. Admission is free, and the atmosphere is designed to capture all the charm of a classic Newport holiday tradition.
