Jane Pickens Theater continues its Made in Newport series on Thursday, Aug 7 with a 4:00 PM screening of Stanley Kubrick’s 1962 drama Lolita. Tickets are $13 for members and $15 for non-members.
Adapted for the screen by author Vladimir Nabokov, the film follows European professor Humbert Humbert (James Mason) whose obsession with teenager Lolita (Sue Lyon) drives him to marry her mother, Charlotte Haze (Shelley Winters). Rated R and running 153 minutes, Lolita was partly shot in Newport and Westerly, including scenes at the former Jamestown Ferry landing, now Ferry Wharf.
