In this workshop, participants will learn the fundamentals of natural dyeing techniques from Korie Ellis, an expert in plant-based dyeing from New Bedford, Massachusetts. The session will focus on using onion skins, a commonly discarded kitchen waste, to dye fabric. Ellis aims to encourage creativity and an appreciation for using everyday materials in new ways, highlighting the potential for beauty in the overlooked. Attendees will gain hands-on experience in dyeing and take home their own dyed tote bag, with all necessary materials provided.
Korie Ellis specializes in creating dyes from a variety of plant sources, exploring the intersection of environmental sustainability and fashion. Her work emphasizes regenerative design, aiming to minimize waste and promote eco-friendly practices in textile coloring.
