The Y’s Thanksgiving morning tradition returns for its 40th year. First launched in 1985 by the Newport Running Club, this USATF sanctioned event brings together runners and walkers to support the Newport County YMCA Community Support Campaign and to collect food donations for the MLK Community Center. The race regularly draws more than 2,000 participants who gather at the YMCA parking lot to start the holiday with fitness and community.
For 2025, the Y is again offering both in person and virtual options so everyone can take part. Saccucci Honda returns as Premier Sponsor.

• Online or on your device registration only on race day, no on site registration. Register up to 7:45 AM on 11/27/2025.
• 5 mile race is chip timed.
• 3 mile race is not timed.
• Start time is 8:30 AM.
• Arrive by 7:15 AM if you still need to pick up your bib.
• Arrive by 7:45 AM if you picked up your bib earlier.
• Course is dog friendly and stroller friendly.
• Parking and restrooms are available.
• Pick up T shirt and bib before race day to avoid waiting in the cold.
All proceeds help the Y continue life changing programs and scholarships for local families.
