Crisp air, waterfront views, and a packed calendar make Newport a perfect fall getaway. From seafood feasts on the harbor to vineyard celebrations and a citywide Italian festival, autumn brings a steady run of signature events. Use this guide to pick your weekend, then build an itinerary around these can not miss highlights.

Bowenโ€™s Wharf Seafood Festival, Oct 18 to Oct 19 2025

The 34th annual waterfront celebration honors the Harvest of the Sea with favorites like lobster rolls, fish tacos, stuffies, chowder, fried calamari, clams, and oysters. Continuous live music fills colorful tents on historic Bowenโ€™s Wharf, and Coastal Living Magazine has recognized it among the 10 Fabulous Fall Festivals on the Coast. The harbor setting makes it easy to pair with shopping and strolls along the working piers nearby.

Norman Bird Sanctuary Harvest Fair, Oct 4 to Oct 5 2025

Celebrate the 51st Harvest Fair at 583 Third Beach Road in Middletown with classic autumn fun for all ages. Expect sack races, hayrides, a mud pit, tug of war, and fair games with prizes. The schedule also includes a Home and Garden Competition, a Crafterโ€™s Tent, live music, and seasonal food vendors. Admission is 14 dollars for adults, 10 dollars for ages 3 to 18, and free for children under 3.

Newport Festa Italiana, Sep 26 to Oct 13 2025

The three week celebration culminates with the free Italian Festival on the Lawn at the Vasco da Gama grounds at 15 Fenner Avenue on Sat Oct 4. Across the run you will find the John Panaggio Original Ziti Night, Cinefesta film events, an Italian Heritage Parade, live music, food vendors, and activities for kids. It is easy to enjoy as a downtown stroll with plenty of places to pause for coffee or a meal between events.

Newport Mansions Wine and Food Festival, Sep 18 to Sep 21 2025

The 20th anniversary edition leans into boutique scale, with educational seminars, guided tastings, and formal dinners inside Gilded Age landmarks including Rosecliff and Marble House. The program features 23 seminars and a special meal with conversation by chef Marcus Samuelsson. Rather than one large tasting tent, the emphasis is on intimate, high touch experiences set on terraces and in grand halls.

Harvest Festival at Newport Vineyards, Sun Oct 19 2025

Raise a glass to 30 years at 909 East Main Road in Middletown from 12 to 5. The celebration includes tastings across wine, beer, and cider, live music, and a commemorative glass with the primary ticket tier. On site parking makes arrival simple, and the property sits about 15 minutes from downtown Newport for easy planning.

Harvest Festival at Sakonnet Vineyard, Oct 11 to Oct 12 2025

The vineyardโ€™s 50th anniversary weekend adds a Sunday specialty market by Tiverton Farmers Market with more than 75 vendors, including local farms, food entrepreneurs, fine art, artisans, and makers. Live music fills the barn, and the vineyard kitchen and food trucks round out a full day of tasting and browsing on the grounds.

Audrain Newport Concours and Motor Week, Oct 2 to Oct 5 2025

The sixth annual celebration transforms the city into an automotive showcase with rare marques, private collections, exhibitions, seminars, gatherings, and fine dining pop ups. Exclusive evening events bring Gatsby style settings to life across notable properties. The week culminates with the Concours dโ€™Elegance on the lawn at The Breakers on Sun Oct 5.

Rogue Island Comedy Festival, Oct 9 to Oct 12 2025

Four days of stand up across intimate venues pair perfectly with a dinner downtown. The festival brings a rotating lineup each year, spread across theaters and bars, so you can pick a neighborhood, park once, and make a full evening of it. Expect multiple shows nightly through the holiday weekend.
