100th Anniversary: Newport’s City Hall Fire of 1925 Lecture
History comes alive on the same night at the Richard I. Burnham Resource Center. Beginning at 6:30 pm (with doors opening at 5:30 pm for a complimentary reception), Fire Chief Humphrey J. “Harp” Donnelly IV will recount the dramatic events of the devastating City Hall fire and pay tribute to Fire Captain John Malloy, who was a symbol of bravery during the tragedy. Tickets range from $15 to $20, with a special rate for students at $10. Plus, don’t miss the “Raise the Alarm: Newport’s Fire Department Through the Decades” exhibition running daily until April 25.
